Cinema releases: April 2020

With launch weekend approaching for our Rochdale Riverside development, we decided to do some sleuthing work for our readers and find out what blockbuster films will be showcased on the big screen when we open.

Alongside our incredible list of retailers (including River Island, M&S and Boots) Reel Cinemas will be opening its doors on April 10th with a host of fantastic cinematic adventures for our audience to enjoy.

So, which of these films will you be booking tickets for?

No Time To Die

One of the most highly anticipated films of the year, the latest in the James Bond franchise, No Time To Die, officially comes to our cinema screens on April 3rd – not bad timing, eh?

The film takes place some time after the capture of Ernst Stavro Blofeld, when James Bond has left active service. He is approached by Felix Leiter, his friend and a CIA officer, who enlists his help in the search for a missing scientist. When it becomes apparent that the scientist was abducted, Bond must confront a danger the likes of which the world has never seen before.

The drama!

This is going to be a huge moment for cinema in 2020, and we can’t wait to share it with you all.

The New Mutants

The New Mutants is an upcoming American superhero movie directed by Josh Boone and starring Maisie Williams.

The premise – five young mutants, just discovering their abilities while held in a secret facility against their will, fight to escape their past sins and save themselves.

Whilst the movie takes inspiration from the X-Men franchise, it sits more comfortably as its darker, more twisted cousin. There won’t be any supervillains, no costumes – just young kids with powers, dealing with their own personal issues. An exciting twist on what can be a dated concept.

The New Mutants will be out April 3rd 2020.

Peter Rabbit 2: The Runaway

Our launch weekend will be the perfect opportunity to spend some time with the family – and there’s no better way than with a good old family film.

The second instalment of Peter Rabbit hits theatres on April 3rd, and Peter’s up to his old shenanigans.

While Thomas McGregor and Bea are on their honeymoon, Peter runs away from home. There, he befriends a rabbit who is an old friend of Peter’s father and finds himself drawn into another life that he never even knew about.

An animated adventure not to be missed!

The Lovebirds

Starring Issa Rae and Kumail Nanjiani, The Lovebirds is based on a couple who, on the very brink of breaking up, gets unintentionally embroiled in a bizarre (and hilarious) murder mystery.

As they get closer to clearing their names and solving the case, they need to figure out how they, and their relationship, can survive the night.

Along the way, they encounter a foul-mouthed teen, a frying pan filled with bacon grease, and an assembly of mask-wearing aristocrats – a fairly wild night by anyone’s standards.

This PG-15 romantic comedy is set to be a huge hit in 2020, and you get to see it first at Rochdale Riverside.

Bad Trip

Directed by Kitao Sakurai, this prank comedy follows two best friends on a cross-country road trip full of inventive pranks, pulling its real-life audience into the mayhem.

If you’re a fan of awkward encounters, hilarious YouTube-esque pranks and full-on American comedy, this is absolutely one for you.

Bad Trip will be hitting our screens on April 24th – get it in your diary!
