How to spend your summer in Rochdale

The bad weather is (finally!) abating, so it’s time to get out enjoy some much needed and well-deserved sunshine.

Rochdale is the perfect borough to catch some rays, and as part of Greater Manchester, is a stone’s-throw away from some truly epic summertime events! Here are some great ideas that will keep you nice and busy this summer in Rochdale.

Time for a stroll

Have you ever been to Hollingworth Lake? It’s like one of those beautiful picturesque lakes that you see in movies and think – I’d just love to go there.

Bordered by sweeping green hills and stunning lakeside cottages, Hollingworth is the ideal place to go for a stroll with a loved one, take the kids for a bit of a kick around or enjoy a picnic with some friends.

We hope you like dogs too, because Hollingworth is hotspot for dog walking – so take your pup and let them meet some new friends!

Manchester Day

A little bit outside of Rochdale for our next summer idea, but as we’re all proud Greater Mancunians this is one not to be missed.

On June 23rd Manchester city centre will be taken over by parades and festivities to celebrate everything that makes Greater Manchester unique, from its arts and culture to its untouchable music scene.

The parade – the focal point of the entire day – will be one mile long, winding through the streets of Manchester and casting its atmospheric, celebratory wand at revellers.

The parade has a new route for 2019, starting from Princess St (near Canal St), and taking in Portland St and Peter St before travelling along Deansgate to finish near the Cathedral. We hope to see you there!

Rochdale Feel Good Festival

Rochdale’s Feel Good Festival returns towards the end of summer this year and it’s packed full of incredible performers, traders and artists.

Taking place on August 10th, the Feel Good Fest is an annual party that allows us as a borough to come together with great food, drink and music and take stock of our incredible hometown.

Headlining this year’s festival are indie legends The Coral and The Hoosiers – made famous by hits including Goodbye Mr A and Dreaming of You.

We actually wrote a little blog post last month giving you all the information you might need on the Feel Good Festival,  so check it out here!
