Ahead of Remembrance Day, Rochdale Riverside has partnered with local primary schools for a special community project.
Students of Sacred Heart Primary School and St Andrews Primary School have created beautifully decorated poppies, which have been proudly displayed in remembrance of those who served and sacrificed.
Each one of the handcrafted poppies represents the creativity and thoughtfulness of the students, who have learned about the significance of Remembrance Day and expressed their appreciation in a heartfelt way.
In addition to the students’ creative contributions, we were also pleased to welcome the Town Centre Chaplain for a visit. The Chaplain’s presence underscores the importance of Remembrance Day, reminding us of the courage, resilience, and unity that this day represents.
Her visit provided a special moment for reflection, allowing those present to pause and honour the memory of those who served. The Chaplain’s role in our community is one of support, empathy, and guidance, and her involvement in this project added an additional layer of reverence to our display.
The involvement of pupils from local primary schools has been incredibly meaningful, engaging the younger generation in a tradition that highlights respect and gratitude.
These poppies will serve as a visual reminder for visitors, allowing them to take a moment to reflect on the importance of remembrance as they walk through Rochdale Riverside.
Thank you to all the talented pupils at Sacred Heart Primary School and St Andrews Primary School
Centre Manager Rachel Byrne will join representatives from other Rochdale businesses at the Remembrance Service on Monday, 11th November, at the Rochdale Cenotaph.
