Rochdale in 2020 – what you can expect

2019 was one of the most transformative years for Rochdale in recent history, with infrastructural improvements, massive cultural festivities and and borough-wide regeneration plans moving forward.

So, will this year be just as exciting? Here are some of the not-to-miss events and improvements that are set to take place in Rochdale throughout 2020!

Dippy has come to Rochdale

The Natural History Museum’s famous dinosaur, Dippy the Diplodocus, has been on a jurassic mission, touring the whole of the UK after leaving the museum for the first time since 2018.

During its expedition, Dippy has decided to stop off in Rochdale – Number One Riverside, Smith Street – from the 10th of February to the 28th of June! Yep, we now have a real life dinosaur right next door to Rochdale Riverside!

The aim of Dippy’s tour is to inspire the next generation of scientists, giving them access to fantastic, nationally-important exhibitions – future scientists of Rochdale, unite!

So, to make a full day of it, why not visit Dippy on April 10th and then pop on round to our launch event!

Rochdale Food & Drink Festival

We’re ecstatic to hear that Rochdale’s very own Food & Drink Festival will in fact be making it’s return to the borough on the 4th of April 2020. So happy in fact, that our developers Genr8 Developments decided to become a sponsor!

With the outdoor food and drink village open to all, a variety of cooking workshops taking place throughout the day with renowned chefs, and all of this adding to the magic of live music and entertainment, it’s going to be a day you won’t soon forget.

Opening of Rochdale Riverside Development

Rochdale Riverside is a brand-new retail and leisure district that’s coming to Rochdale this year – launching April 10th!

Developed as a joint venture between Genr8 Developments and Kajima, the space will bring a huge new consumer market to the region and hopes to drive investment throughout the borough.

With an incredible line-up of tenants (as you can see in the image below!), the borough is going to be welcoming visitors from across the North as people come to celebrate the newest edition to the Greater Manchester’s retailtainment scene.

Let us know if you’re coming along!

Second phase of Rochdale Riverside

The Greater Manchester Combined Authority is backing phase two of Rochdale Riverside – a mixed-use development in the town centre – with a £4m funding package, allowing work to begin this summer.

The residential element of the project will see the delivery of 228 contemporary, stylish apartments, with affordable rent right in the heart of the town centre.

Later phases are set to include a hotel and offices, which will be funded separately from the apartments.

Rochdale’s growth and regeneration is inspiring and we can’t wait to drive it forward!

And that’s it

With the buyers’ journey more advanced than ever, it’s wonderful to see the excitement that in-store shopping can still generate after all these years. Long may it continue.
