July 2018, hereby known as the summer of the heatwave – and the UK has been a happier place for it! Noticeably, it’s driven people out of their homes and into town – businesses across the country have seen a huge surge in custom, with research firm Nielsen claiming that “last month Britain’s major retailers enjoyed the largest annual revenue rise for four years, up 4% compared with June the previous year”.
So, with businesses benefitting from the warm months this summer, we thought it fitting in this piece to bring you Rochdale’s business successes from July.
Connectivity is everything
The metro is coming to Middleton, and businesses are on board! The town is planning its tram extension to reach Middleton, making the district a much more accessible area with the potential to bring new jobs and opportunities to the area.
The links plan to connect Middleton to the Greater Manchester Metroline, with the aim of bringing greater business opportunities from Greater Manchester and the surrounding area.
With this improved interconnectivity, Rochdale and its surrounding borough can expect a wave of success for the coming years. Watch this space!
£150m to be invested in Rochdale
Rochdale is set to see a further £150m of investments into their town centre, following on from the £250m regeneration programme and our £80m Rochdale Riverside retail and leisure development.
The investments include:
- The development of the magnificent grade 1 listed Town Hall
- Improvements to the Town Hall Square
- 2,000 new residential properties being built right in the heart of town centre
- A new market set to open in Autumn 2018
The town centre is booming, and these further investments prove that Rochdale’s developments aren’t slowing down any time soon!
Kingsway Business Park expansion
In light of recent business success and the town centre’s incredible regeneration plans, Kingsway Business Park is officially beginning its expansion, ready for new commercial businesses to move in.
The addition of space at Kingsway Business Park hopes to attract new businesses looking for “high quality industrial units with direct motorway access”. This is great news for the retail and leisure industry in Rochdale, as new customers are being attracted to the region on a daily basis. Exciting times ahead!
The only way is up!
With rapid investments in the area, a growing transportation infrastructure and new business opportunities, Rochdale is well on its way to success and is certainly a Greater Manchester borough to watch.
